Glass on Grass Day 1

There were 68 'vettes at the gathering Friday night to start off the Glass on Grass weekend.  We had some of the charter members of the Spokane Corvette Club come in for a visit and we hope they will rejoin the club for lots of fun in the future.  There was a Hot Wheels race off between Cathy and Pat, the 2007 Big Sky 2nd and 3rd places Hot Wheels winners and then everyone else joined in for the racing.  Seems like Lori had the "Hot" Wheels for the night but Randy was a close second.  They just might have to have a race off of their own next year.

Glass on Grass Day 2

Well, the day started of early for some as they headed to KHQ for the early show. We'll try and get that interview set up on the web later. Then it was off to the park for a busy day of registering cars for the show.  Arlyn took pictures of 146 cars with 1 car declining a picture and then we were told that 4 more cars pulled into the park after we left to get the pictures printed so that put us at over 150 cars in the park.  Great job to those who were parking the cars, putting out cardboard and taking registrations. Thanks guys and gals.  You know who you are and we thank you.

Now this years Hard luck award should go to Jeff and Cathy Robinson who drove their car down from Canada. They developed problems and had to have the car trailered to Camp to get it fixed. Jim got them working on it and Jeff went to pick it up the next day during the show. Unfortunately, they only got a couple of blocks and it did the same thing.  We have a picture of Jeff and Cathy but promised not to put it on the web until we got their ok. So if you want to see the picture, talk to Jeff. They were good sports about the whole thing and we hope they get their car back soon.

I almost forgot to mention our own Captain Morgan.

Great pose Randy

Then it was off to the BBQ. Great job again Mike and Denise. Thanks for the use of your home to bring an easy close to a wonderful day.

Glass on Grass Day 3

We have pictures of the Autocross at Spokane Falls Community College and if anyone has pictures from the Brunch at the Casino, get them to us and we'll put them on the web. There were cars from different body styles and years and some cars had multiple drivers but they all had fun.   Thanks to the non racers, who were spotters on the course and had the great job of resetting those pesky cones that just kept getting in the way.

One very spectacular spin out, well we thought it was great but the spouse on the side lines might not have been quite as happy as we were, but things turned out great and except for the timing light and Chuck wanting to walk in front of cars it was a wonderful day. No injuries and nothing that can't be fixed. Thanks to Kelly and Mike for getting this set up and I think we have enough interest to do it again in the future. A special thanks to Jackie for being the time keeper.  We tried to get her out there racing. Well, maybe next time.

There was a mishap with the timing lights and a lesson learned (we hope) but Chuck carried on with a stop watch and Nick filled in for him later. And yes, that is Bill and Katherine's car and they both drove. Congratulations to them both on their 1st Autocross but I am sure, not their last. And thanks to Bob for letting an old member (not in years) borrow his car to do the autocross.

Here are the time sheets from the autocross. Thanks again Jackie.
