Nelson Run 2008
Thanks to Jeff and Cathy Robinson for their hospitality and picture taking for the Nelson run this year. Great job you guys.
The weather was awesome, warm and sunny. The BBQ at our house for the Club members was another great time and I think all went away with full tummies. Instead of the regular hamburger thing Cathy and I did her famous lasagna and I burned some chicken for every one. Cathy and I also made 4 fresh apple pies with the apples from my Dad’s trees. I had 11 cars in my yard Friday nite , that was way cool !!
I discovered a fellow I went to school with had just the week before bought an ’86 Roadster and I invited him and his wife to the Saturday lunch and Evening dinner as well as the Sunday run. They both came and really had a great time. The Saturday lunch was held at Findlay’s Irish Pub, and was well received by all who attended. ( Cathy and I were there last nite ..Friday Oct 3, and were talking to the waitress and she was VERY impressed with the crew and was also equally impressed with the amount they all tipped !! Very generous !)
The dinner at the Hume was good too, chicken and Spaghetti, we also invited Faith and Andy from Chiller’s pub ( who did the Saturday lunch for the past 2 years ) they have purchased an ’87 roadster with the thoughts of up grading to a C-5 next year. They are also excited and are joining the Spokane Corvette Cub as well.To go along with the “ Canadian Primer C-5 “ owned by Randy and Linda , I built Linda and Randy a detailed scale model of their car complete down to their own personal license plate, and placed it on a base so that they can display it at their home. I also built a C-6 for Mike and Denise DeFreese for their continuous generosity to Cathy and Myself, also down to the last detail with their own personal license plate.
The ride on Sunday from Nelson to Kaslo was to die for !!! With a pee stop and ice cream for some as well as some photos and then off to New Denver on the twisty road , Highway 31. We stopped at Fish lake for a photo op, and then it was off to New Denver then to Castlegar, where we said our good byes, and some went on to the Nelway border crossing and some went through the Patterson crossing and the rest went through Port Hill near Creston. It seemed all had a great time , here in Nelson, and are looking forward to next year.
